Digitize Games

Digitizing games is the main purpose of the ChessScanner web application. You can find out more about this in this chapter.

View & Analyze Games

Through the database view of the games, you can view the game. There you will also find the button with the triangle which you can use to open the game. In the game view, you can freely manipulate moves and variations without changing the saved game. This is especially useful if you want to analyze the game. You can also use the Stockfish 16 chess engine for analysis.

Edit Games

A distinction is made between editing the game data (all data surrounding the game) and adjusting the moves of the game.

Edit Game Data

The game data can be edited via the button with the pencil icon in the database view of the game.

Adjust Game Moves / Correct Errors Afterwards

If the input process for the game is still available, you can adjust the game via the button with the pencil icon in the game input overview. You will then have the same game form view as during input.

If the input process is no longer available, you can adjust the moves of the game via the Edit button in the game view.

Export Games

Games can be exported individually or multiple games at once in the standard PGN (Portable Game Notation) format. The exported PGN files contain all the moves, game information, and metadata from your digitized games, making them fully compatible with popular chess software like ChessBase, Fritz, or online platforms.

You have two export options:

Export selected games: Select specific games in the database view using the checkboxes and click the "Export games" button to export only those games.

Export individual games: Individual games can also be exported via the three-dot menu in the database view.

The exported PGN file will contain all your selected games and can be easily imported into other chess applications for further analysis or sharing.

Delete Games

Games can be deleted via the button with the trash can icon in the database view. The game will be permanently removed from the database and cannot be restored.
